Bypass on the move

ALGONQUIN – For many years, former County Board Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Dwyer campaigned and asked for money for a road that would divert through traffic away from a congested downtown.

Dwyer, who helped form the McHenry County Road Coalition, was among those praised Monday as officials celebrated the start of work on the Algonquin Western Bypass at a groundbreaking ceremony.

Dwyer, however, wasn’t there. He died in June 2011.
