Groundbreaking Thursday for low-income housing

WOODSTOCK – Home of the Sparrow will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday at 140 North St. in Woodstock to celebrate the start of construction for six townhouses and the renovation of two houses with five units.

Through a collaborative agreement with the Housing Opportunity Development Corp., Home of the Sparrow will assume ownership of these 11 units of permanent, supportive housing. The Housing Opportunity Development Corp. will be responsible for acquiring and developing the units.

The properties will offer affordable homes for 35 to 45 low-income individuals in McHenry County.
