Illinois murder suspect caught in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Authorities in western Tennessee have chased a murder suspect from Illinois across parts of three counties before capturing him.

Kody Walsh of Rockford, Ill., was wanted in the fatal shooting last week of a woman in northern Illinois.

The Commercial Appeal reported the 36-year-old Walsh was sought in the Sept. 9 killing of 36-year-old Lori Ann Daniels in Rockford.

Authorities first tried to stop Walsh on Interstate 40 in Haywood County about 1 p.m. Sunday. He fled, and the pursuit reached speeds of more than 100 mph as it entered Fayette County and then Shelby County. Police said Walsh’s car struck two other vehicles during his dash down the interstate.

A police affidavit showed Walsh got off the interstate but struck a utility pole in Memphis, disabling the car. He tried to run but was soon caught.
