McHenry County Health department sets flu clinics
WOODSTOCK – The McHenry County Department of Health joins the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in encouraging an annual flu shot for everyone 6 months and older as the best protection against influenza.
Appointments for mercury-free shots for adults and children 9 years and older can be made online at www.mcdh.info or by calling 815-334-4510.
The cost is $30; Medicaid and Medicare Part B are accepted. Walk-ins are welcome.
Scheduled health department flu clinics are:
• 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Building A, McHenry County Health Department, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.
• 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 27, Building A, McHenry County Department of Health, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.
• 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 29, health clinic, McHenry County Department of Health office, 100 N. Virigina St., Crystal Lake.
The flu season is long and unpredictable, so the CDC recommends getting a flu shot before flu season begins. It takes two weeks for antibodies to develop to provide protection, it said.
