100 sworn in as citizens as Constitution is feted
CHICAGO — New U.S. citizens took their oath on the 225th anniversary of the signing of the nation's Constitution.
Secretary of State Jesse White on Monday presided over the ceremony in which 100 people born in 32 different countries were sworn in as citizens.
The event took place at the Richard J. Daley Plaza in Chicago's Loop. It included a naturalization ceremony conducted by U.S. District Court Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan (der-YAY'-gen).
