Community kindness

To the Editor:

On behalf of Haley and our family, we would like to thank reporter Lawerence Synett, the Northwest Herald, and the entire community for the support they gave Haley when her balloon flew into the wind carrying her Cubs tickets (“Dream of attending Cubs game dashed,” Sept. 7).

We had local companies such as Sage and Gold Coast Tickets offering amazing seats, and local season ticket holders ready to sacrifice their tickets to Haley in order to turn her frown upside down!

It’s really nice to see a town come together to help this fragile 17-year-old who has had a rough few years medically and has come a long way.

She had offers for limousine rides and extra tickets, all of which she respectfully declined due to her pride and selflessness.

Thank you to all the kind citizens who offered their own tickets. Thank you to everyone who offered to call the Cubs customer service for us and try to get Haley’s tickets back. Thank you to Sage. Thank you to Frank. Thank you To Gold Coast Tickets. Thank you to everyone who took the time to email us and share your thoughts. The enormity of your kindness will never be forgotten.
