County's 2013 budget is lighter by $5.2 million
WOODSTOCK – McHenry County government’s 2013 budget is tentatively set to shrink by $5.2 million.
County Board members got a brief look Tuesday evening at highlights of next year’s spending plan. The tentative $251.5 million budget marks a 2 percent decrease from the $256.7 million for the current fiscal year.
The budget as proposed does not include an increase in the property tax levy. Many board members have expressed a desire to not collect the 3 percent increase taxing bodies will be allowed for under the tax cap. All 24 seats on the County Board are up for election this year because of redistricting after the 2010 U.S. Census.
