Defeat referendum
To the Editor:
I believe the referendum question to create the office of county executive is a singularly bad idea. In an era when almost all of us agree that shrinking government is a laudable goal, we are presented with a question this November of creating another layer of government.
What is the point? Is our present form of county governance not working? Is it running deficits? Are our elected county representatives acting unreasonably or unaccountable to the electorate? I think not.
