Hollow Tree Spinners creations on display in Harvard

HARVARD – Harvard Diggins Library will exhibit handspun fiber, garments and other knitted, crocheted and woven items created by the Hollow Tree Spinners.

The guild is based in McHenry County and promotes the art of hand spinning through meetings, teaching and presentations.

The library display will run through Sept. 29 during regular library hours.

From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, the guild will offer a hands-on demonstration of spinning at the library. The public can try making a spindle and creating usable yarn, or sit down at a spinning wheel to see how it works. They also can see the tools spinners use and the techniques that go back thousands of years.

Experienced spinners will help and answer questions.

Admission is free and open to the public. Children younger than age 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

Harvard Diggins Library is at 900 E. McKinley St.
