Petersen and Burns

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Kiersten Petersen and Charlie Burns, both of Chicago, were married in a double-ring ceremony at 3 p.m. June 16, 2012, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa. The Rev. Chris Manke officiated.

She is the daughter of Mark and Rebecca Petersen of Wauwatosa. He is the son of Michael and Anne Burns of Crystal Lake.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Oleg Cassini gown with beaded empire waist and hemline. Lace and floral adorned the bodice and skirt.

She carried a bouquet of white roses, snapdragons, peonies and lilies, the favorite flowers of her mother, grandmothers and bridegroom’s mother.

Maid of honor was Rachel O’Conor of Chicago. Matron of honor was Rachel Woofter of Edwardsville, Mich. Bridesmaid was Maggie Burns of Crystal Lake.

Best man was Fred Thompson of Wilmington, N.C. Groomsmen were Dan Campbell of Crystal Lake and Ben Ellington of Ann Arbor, Mich. Ushers were Brad Ihrcke and Drew Scharenbroch, both of Madison, Wis., and Matthew and Erik Petersen.

After a reception at the Wauwatosa Women’s Club, the couple took a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The bride is a 2009 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attends graduate school at Marquette University in Wisconsin. She is a registered nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

The bridegroom is a 2009 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attends graduate school at Rush College of Medicine, where he is a third-year medical student.

They live in Chicago.
