FBI probing Southern Illinois University threat

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The FBI and police at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale are investigating a threat received by mail.

WSIU Radio reports that authorities don't believe the threat is credible, but a campus safety alert was issued Wednesday morning as a precaution.

University spokesman Rod Sievers says people should still go about their regular business.

A spokesman for the FBI says there is little they can release about the threat other than it arrived by mail.

Campus and FBI officials say the safety of students, faculty and staff is of the utmost importance.
