Historical plaque given to Trout Valley Pool

TROUT VALLEY – The McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission will unveil its latest historical plaque at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Trout Valley Pool on River Drive.

John D. Hertz, founder of Yellow Cab and Coach Co., had the pool built in 1923. Hertz also was a co-owner of Arlington Park Racetrack, TWA and Omnibus.

The pool has been a focal point for community social events for almost 90 years, the McHenry County Historic Preservation Committee said in a news release. People in politics, sports, business and entertainment have used the pool.
