D-158 OKs budget; changes are certain

ALGONQUIN – With teachers looking on, the District 158 board unanimously approved an $80.7 million budget that is incomplete because a new teacher contract remains in doubt.

Chief Financial Officer Mark Altmayer presented what he called a conservative budget marred by a slow-to-recover economy and a state government known for being behind on its payments to school districts.

He cautioned members they will have to amend the budget later this year to factor in salary increases once the district and its union, the Huntley Education Association, agrees to a contract.
