Do-nothing Congress

To the Editor:

Led by Speaker John Boehner and his sidekicks (Robert Dold, Peter Roskam, Joe Walsh and Randy Hultgren), the 112th Congress has become the do-nothing Congress of the 21st century. As the nation is recovering from the worst financial mess since the Great Depression, this is a tragedy.

Republicans in Congress have voted 33 times against “Obamacare,” knowing full well that the Senate and the president would render their votes meaningless. And at what cost to the taxpayer? They’ve blocked the president’s jobs bill for over a year, thus driving up the rate of unemployment. And the party of “smaller government” has focused its attention on micro-managing women’s health care.
