Kozak’s 33 leads Jacobs golfers

WEST DUNDEE – Sean Kozak played bogey-free golf Thursday at Randall Oaks, shooting a 3-under-par 33 to lead Jacobs to a 152-157 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win against McHenry.

Kozak had three birdies and six pars in his round. It was the second 33 Kozak has recorded at Randall Oaks this season.

Golden Eagles coach Jeremy Bauer said Kozak played out of some trouble to remain under par.

“[Kozak] made a couple of good up and downs to save par,” Bauer said. “He’s playing pretty weill.”

Also for Jacobs (8-0 overall, 6-0 FVC Valley), Chris Boyle shot a 39 and Anthony Dedic and Gabe Askam shot 40s.

Anthony Mertz led the Warriors with a 37, followed by Andrew Reisinger (39).

Genoa-Kingston 172, Hampshire 192: At the Oak Club in Genoa, Nick Swierczynski shot a 46 to lead the Whip-Purs (4-9) in a nonconference loss.

Stillman Valley Triangular: At Prairie View in Byron, Jordan Hahn shot a 3-over 39 for Richmond-Burton (14-5, 9-4 Big Northern Conference) which finished with 178 in a win against Stillman Valley (201) and loss to Rock Falls (174).

Cary-Grove 155, CL South 173: At Cary Country Club, Jarrett Kinney shot a 2-under 35 for the Trojans (5-3, 3-2 FVC Valley) in an FVC Valley Division win. Grant Gassensmith led the Gators with a 41.

CL Central 155, Dundee-Crown 189: At Turnberry in Lakewood, Ryan O’Toole shot an even-par 36 for the Tigers (6-1) in an FVC crossover win. Brenton Bartelt led the Chargers (1-4) with a 43.

Huntley 153, Prairie Ridge 167: At Pinecrest in Huntley, Riley Wicks shot a 1-under 35 for the Red Raiders (10-2, 4-2) in an FVC Valley Division win. Pat Biewald shot a 37 for the Wolves (6-4, 2-4)

Rockford Christian 187, Harvard 205: At Plum Tree in Harvard, Jeremy Coffman shot a 5-over 41 to lead the Hornets in a BNC loss.

Marian Central 159, Johnsburg 177: At Crystal Woods in Woodstock, Marian’s Noah Radwanski shot even-par 36 to lead the Hurricanes to a nonconference win, and Matt Van Herzeele added a 39. Ben Dingman shot a 41 for the Skyhawks.

Prairie Ridge 1, Jacobs 0: At Crystal Lake, Nathan Berillo scored a first-half goal for the Wolves in an FVC Valley win. Also for Prairie Ridge (8-4-1, 2-0), Brandon Barnes made nine saves – one on a penalty kick.

Johnsburg 7, Hampshire 0: At Johnsburg, Alex Jansen and Kolby Knutson each scored two goals for the Skyhawks (6-3-2, 2-0) in an FVC Fox win. Andy Pederson made 21 saves for the Whips (2-8-1, 0-1).

Grayslake Central 3, Woodstock 2 (OT): At Grayslake, Alex Esparza scored his first goal of the season and Luis Arellano connected on his 10th for the Blue Streaks (5-9, 0-2 in an FVC Fox loss.

Grayslake North 4, CL Central 0: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers (0-12, 0-1) lost in FVC Fox play to the Knights (4-11, 1-1).

Dundee-Crown 1, Larkin 0: At Elgin, Eduardo Arellano scored for the Chargers in a nonconference win. Also for D-C (11-1), Christian Martinez made three saves.

Genoa-Kingston 4, Marengo 1: At Marengo, Ryan Vega Perez scored for the Indians in a BNC East loss. Also for Marengo (2-11, 1-6), Dylan Marks made 15 saves in goal.

Harvard 1, Rockford Christian 1: At Rockford, Eduardo Juarez scored for Harvard (9-4-2, 4-0-2) on a Pedro Guzman assist in their BNC East tie.
