Harlem Wizards to take court for D-158 event

Published: Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

HUNTLEY – The District 158 Education Foundation will conduct a fun-filled fundraising event Oct. 20 where the world-famous Harlem Wizards will challenge the D158 Shooting Stars, featuring teachers, staff, administrators and coaches as players and cheerleaders.

The event begins at 6 p.m. in the gymnasium at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road, Huntley. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Often compared with the Globetrotters, the Harlem Wizards provide comedy in addition to treating basketball aficionados to great skills, teamwork, slick dribbling, alley-oops and crazy slams.

The non-hoop fans attending will find that this is much more than a basketball game.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the children of School District 158.

Tickets cost $10 each, or $12 at the door. Children 3 and younger are free.

Advance tickets can be bought at any District 158 school office or by mail (download an order form on the District 158 Education Foundation webpage at www.district158.org/education-foundation).

For sponsorship opportunities and questions, call contact event chairperson Roger Schroepfer at 847-241-6100 or visit www.district158.org/education-foundation.
