Petition packets 
available in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD – Election packets for the 2013 municipal election are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Village Hall, 2500 Lake Ave.

The village president position and three trustee positions are up for the Consolidated General Election, which will be held April 9.

The positions carry four-year terms.

Candidates for municipal office may begin circulating nominating petitions on Tuesday. Petitions for nomination are filed with the Lakewood Village Clerk’s Office.

The filing period is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 17 through Dec. 24, excluding weekend days and holidays. On Dec. 24, the filing period will be extended to 5 p.m.

An election calendar and candidates’ guide will be available on the Illinois State Board of Elections website at www.elections.state.il.us.

The Village Clerk’s Office recommends that all prospective candidates consult with competent legal counsel when preparing nominating papers to run for office.
