Teen charged with making a false report
CRYSTAL LAKE – A 17-year-old girl is facing misdemeanor charges in connection with telling the sheriff’s office she was kidnapped when in reality she was with her friends for two days.
On Sunday, a family who lives in an unincorporated area near Crystal Lake reported their daughter had run away.
McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Lt. James Popovits said the girl is a habitual runaway. In the past, she had been found with friends and would return home.
