Attorney charged in credit card scheme
CHICAGO – A northern Illinois bankruptcy attorney is accused of using his clients' credit cards and then wiping the debt clean in their bankruptcy proceedings.
Bradley Aubel of Vernon Hills also is accused of bribing an employee who was a witness to the alleged scheme.
Federal prosecutors say authorities unraveled the plot by following a trail of text messages between Aubel and the employee, who unbeknownst to the attorney was cooperating with investigators.
