BARTLETT – Lauren Van Vlierbergen won the 14-team Bartlett Invitational for Jacobs in 18:07 and led the Golden Eagles to a second-place finish at Sunset Park.
Van Vlierbergen was 13 seconds ahead of Waubonsie Valley's Ashley Bruner, who finished second. The Golden Eagles finished with 63 points and trailed only Schaumburg, which had 56.
Also for Jacobs, Sam Baran was third in 18:28, Alex Lorenz was 10th (18:46), Kayla Giuliano was 15th (19:19) and Tiffany Johnson was 34th (20:05.
Kate Mitchell finished 21st for Huntley in 19:27. The Red Raiders took ninth with 256 points.
Malgorzata Waz (20:26) took 39th for Crystal Lake South, which placed 10th with 260.
James “J.T.” Taylor Invitational: At Camp Henry Horner in Fox Lake, Marengo placed four runners in the top 10 in the invitational hosted by Grant, as Katie Adams took the top spot with a time of 18:17.22 on the 3-mile course.
Marengo (39 points) outpaced Marian Central (117), which came in third, fourth-place Richmond-Burton (132) and the 11 other teams in the field. Katie St. Clair, Kitty Allen and Lexi Olson were the other runners in the top 10 for the Indians.
Charger Classic Invitational: At Oakhurst in Aurora, Woodstock's Maura Beattie finished third with a time of 17:12.5 in a 159-runner race to lead the Blue Streaksto 11th in the 28-team field. Yorkville finished first.
Rock River Run: At Sterling, Natalie Sztukowski took 47th in 20:56 for Hampshire at the 14-team invitational. The Whip-Purs were 11th with 271 points, and Geneva won with 36 points.
Belvidere North Tournament: At Belvidere, Woodstock played five matches and went 1-4, defeating East Aurora, 26-16, 25-8. Danielle Pautrat recorded 55 digs over five matches as the Blue Streaks took Rockford Christian and Belvidere North to three games before losing.
Elk Grove Invitational: Crystal Lake South finished second, going 4-1. The Gators (17-6) defeated Elk Grove, Barrington, Lakes and Willowbrook but lost to Stevenson.
Carly Nolan led South with 31 kills, and Katie Meyers recorded 59 digs over the five matches.
Prospect Invitational: At Mount Prospect, McHenry finished in second place with victories over Prospect JV, Maine East, Lake Park and Prospect varsity. It's lone loss was to Palatine.
Mary Rouse recorded 29 kills for the tournament and Brittany Avonts added 27 for McHenry (8-9). The Warriors also received 35 digs from Kayla Csech and 11 blocks from Becca Dabrowski.
Freeport Invitational: At Freeport Park Hills, Crystal Lake Central bested the 13-team field with a score of 365. Ann Bandolik came in second individually with a 14-over-par 85 and Larisa Luloff was sixth with a 90.
Huntley (404) and McHenry (418) also competed. Gillian Young led Huntley with a 94, and Kaylee Ross led McHenry with a 97.
Mundelein Invitational: At Countryside in Mundelein, Jacobs' Kaitlynn Woloszyk was the top area finisher with a 24-over 96, as the Golden eagles took fifth place in the six-team invitational.
Dundee-Crown (429) finished third behind scores from Lauren Wendt (101), Maggie Ahern (104), Andie Huml (105) and Morgan Howe (119). First place went to Mundelein (354) and Johnsburg finished sixth (472).
