D-300 OKs budget with major caveat
ALGONQUIN – The District 300 board Monday unanimously approved a $194.2 million budget that leaves administrators with little more than a $1 million surplus – for now.
That surplus is likely to be threatened, as the district and its teachers union continue to negotiate terms for a new contract.
Chief Financial Officer Susan Harkin left teacher salaries flat from 2012 because of it, and she admitted that board members will have to amend the budget later in the year once a new contract is finalized.
