The band Suburban Cowboys will perform 8:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Huntley Fall Fest.

For the first time in seven years, the forecast doesn’t call for rain at the Huntley Fall Fest. Of course, organizers can’t count on clear skies, but they’re certainly optimistic.

“Luck is on our side this year,” Co-Chair Bryant Haniszewski said.

This year’s fest is set to begin at 4 p.m. Sept. 28 with a Special Needs Carnival for children and their families, and run through 5 p.m. Sept. 30 at Deicke Park, 12015 Mill St.

Among numerous attractions, it includes food, a beer garden, a carnival, a pumpkin patch and kids area, a tractor show, a petting zoo, pony rides, a scarecrow contest, hayrides, fireworks and music. Lots of music.

Among the bands performing are rock band Tongue-N-Groove, country band Suburban Cowboys, Serendipty, Denny Diamond, Evolution, the Spazmatics, Project Two, Hans & The Hormones and 7th heaven.

“I’m liking the line-up this year. It has the variety in it,” Haniszewski said. “The Spazmatics, that’s something different we haven’t had before, new wave 80s.”

The popular Chicago area band 7th heaven typically draws a big crowd, Haniszewski said, and will perform on Sunday, when gate admission is free.

Admission also is free during the daytime hours Saturday this year. Tickets cost $5 per person Friday night and at 5 p.m. Saturday.

In its second year, the carnival is free to enter as well.

“We’re expecting an Indian Summer weekend with some nice music on the stage,” Haniszewski said.
