Kilbride says cameras in courts going smoothly
WHEATON, Ill. — Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride says the DuPage County court system will be the first in the Chicago area to allow cameras and other recording devices in its trial courts.
Kilbride says the court will enter an order Monday to add the 18th Circuit to a pilot program that Kilbride announced in April.
The chief justice says it's important to have the Chicago media market included in the test program.
Kilbride tells WDCB Radio that the pilot project is running smoothly so far but that doesn't guarantee statewide implementation.
He says maintaining decorum in the courtroom will always be the top priority and he won't allow enhanced media coverage to jeopardize that.
