Applications now available for Merry Cary Parade and Festival

CARY – Applications are being accepted to participate in the Merry Cary Holiday Parade and Festival on Dec. 2 in downtown Cary.

The event, hosted by the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and the village of Cary, features one of McHenry County’s largest holiday parades, followed by a number of free downtown activities for families.

Parade application forms are available at Applications also can be picked up from the chamber offices at 445 Park Ave., Cary.

The 16th annual event begins with a parade down West Main Street at 1 p.m., It will feature nearly 1,000 participants, including local businesses, community groups and organizations and local Boy and Girl Scout troops.

At 2 p.m., after the parade, there will be a number of free activities, including horse-drawn sleigh rides, a petting zoo, pony rides and performances by local schoolchildren.

Santa will visit with children at Cary Travel Express, 9 Jandus Road, until 3:30 p.m. 

There also will be a special appearance by Christmas Elves from Those Funny Little People.

Merry Cary Parade participation is free to Cary area community groups and Cary Grove Chamber business members. The fee for nonmember businesses and organizations outside of the community is $50.
