McHenry library programs ready football fans for season

McHENRY – The McHenry Public Library District is ready for football season with two different programs for beer and football fans.

• “You Can Brew It!”: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Home brewing is a fun and rewarding hobby enjoyed by millions of people all over the world. Award-winning home brewer Scott Pointon will discuss equipment, ingredients, the brewing process and resources for would-be brew masters.

• Former Chicago Bears player, Bears football radio analyst and Super Bowl winner Jim Schwantz: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 11. Find out what it’s like to play for three storied teams of “Iron Mike Ditka,” with 10 Hall of Famers and on the ultimate stage, the Super Bowl. Schwantz, currently mayor of Palatine, will share stories and memorabilia. Schwantz also will break down the start of the 2012-13 Bears season. He is an analyst for WBBM-AM Bears radio.

Registration is required for both programs, which are free and for ages 18 and older.
