ALGONQUIN – The village will hold a fall recycling drop-off event for residents on Oct. 8 at Presidential Park.

Proof of residency will be required at the time of drop-off.

Items that will be accepted for recycling include lawn furniture, large plastic toys, grills, clean metals, wood-based furniture, large cardboard boxes, clean wood, aluminum gutters and Styrofoam. Electronics eligible for recycling include computers, televisions and radios.

People also will be able to donate working appliances, electronics and household items.

At last year’s recycling event, the village received more than 18,000 pounds of electronics, more than 16,000 pounds of materials and donated an entire truckload of reusable clothing and household items, according to a news release.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at 700 Highland Ave.
