Dog-tober Fest set for Saturday in Huntley
HUNTLEY – The fourth annual Dog-tober Fest, featuring more than 50 rescues, shelters, humane organizations, pet service and pet food vendors, will run from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Deicke Park in Huntley.
The free event focuses on the relationship between families and their pets and aims to bring attention to the needs of animals. Dog-tober Fest will feature demonstrations, including disc dogging, flyball and canine agility.
In commemoration of St. Francis of Assisi Day on Thursday, the Rev. Michelle McNamara from St. John’s United Church of Christ in Marengo will bless animals at 1:30 p.m. Dog-tober Fest will have contests for dogs and their owners, a raffle to raise money for a nonprofit group. There will be photos, pet and human apparel, doggy massages and canine companions looking for forever homes.
