Judge won’t dismiss charges against Sheley
MORRISON – A northern Illinois judge has denied a request to dismiss charges against a man accused of killing eight people in two states.
The Quad City Times reported that the judge denied the request Friday from Nicholas Sheley, who filed a handwritten motion asking to dismiss charges accusing him of killing Russell Reed. Sheley claimed prosecutors failed to give him a speedy trial.
That means the trial against Sheley will go on with jury selection scheduled to begin Oct. 22 in Whiteside County. Testimony is to begin Oct. 29.
