Man ejected from vehicle after striking utility pole
NUNDA TOWNSHIP – A McHenry man was transported to the hospital in critical condition early this morning after striking a utility pole in Nunda Township, according to authorities.
Emergency responders were called to the 600 block of South River Road at around 12:30 a.m. for a report of a single-vehicle accident with injuries, according to the McHenry Township Fire Protection District. Crews arrived to find an SUV flipped over in a ditch, and the driver lying some 15-feet from the vehicle.
The man was traveling south on River Road when he left the roadway and struck several sign posts and a utility pole, which caused the vehicle to roll over onto its roof, fire officials said. The man was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
