Morrissey to run for
re-election as mayor

ROCKFORD – Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey says he’s running for a third term.

Morrissey announced his candidacy Thursday. The 43-year-old independent candidate says he’s been honored to work with the Rockford City Council, leaders in northern Illinois, the staff at City Hall and others in the community.

Morrissey says he’ll continue to work on infrastructure projects and other types of development if he’s re-elected.

Democrat Jim Hughes has already announced plans to run for Rockford’s mayor in the 2013 consolidated election on April 9.
