Published: Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

RINGWOOD – Potts & Pans Steelband will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday on the back patio of the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.

Potts & Pans Steelband is based out of Woodstock and composed of Northern Illinois University graduates who were a part of the NIU Steelband.

The repertoire of the steelband is extensive, from jazz and calypso to popular tunes and original works. In concert, their music will show off the diversity of the steelpan while educating the audience about the instrument. The inspiration for the band is rooted in Matt Potts’ experiences in the steelbands in Trinidad and in New York.

Participants may bring a picnic dinner or dessert and a lawn chair to the intimate outdoor setting under the branches of ancient oaks with views of the outstretched valley.

In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors, where no glass containers are allowed.

This will be the last concert of the series.
