Algonquin man killed in hit-and-run near Cary

CARY – Police are asking for help in finding the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run near Cary early Monday.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old John D. Fennessy of 609 S. Hubbard St. Algonquin.

About 3:29 a.m., the McHenry County Sheriff's Office as well as Cary police and fire district were dispatched to the 600 block of East Main Street near Newbold Road.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle had been driving east on Main Street when it struck Fennessy before leaving the scene, according to a news release.

Fennessy was pronounced dead on the scene by the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
