Two from Crystal Lake in critical condition after crash

WALWORTH, Wis. – A Wisconsin crash has left two Crystal Lake residents in critical condition, including a 7-year-old girl.

A 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Shawn E. Cummings, 29, of Crystal Lake failed to yield at a stop sign in Walworth, Wis., the Walworth County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

A 2008 Chevrolet Van towing a 1996 Smokercraft fishing boat, driven by Scott D. Bergstrom, of Huntley, struck the driver's side of the Cavalier.

The crash happened about 5 p.m. Sunday, at Routes 14 and 67 at Lakeville Road in Walworth.

Cummings and his two passengers were transported for medical treatment.

Seven-year-old Lia M. Cummings, of Crystal Lake was flown by Flight for Life to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Shawn Cummings was airlifted to Janesville Hospital. Both were in critical condition.

A third passenger of Cummings' car, Sabrina A. Hinde, 22, of Glendale Heights, was taken by ambulance with a minor injury.

A passenger in Bergstrom's van, William F. Binotti, 58, of Tinley Park, also was taken by ambulance for minor injuries.

Bergstrom, 58, was uninjured.

Everyone involved were wearing seat belts, police said.
