5K to honor CL plane crash victims

WHEATON – A 5K run will be held in honor of the girl who was killed in a Crystal Lake place crash last November.

The Ramie Harris Homecoming 5K Run will be at Wheaton College, where she attended school.

Harris' father, Indiana businessman, Ray Harris, was flying his daughters, Ramie and Shey, and 22-year-old Chris Backus, a friend of one of the daughters, when the plane hit a tree and crashed in a farm field near Crystal Lake.

Harris was flying Ramie back to Wheaton College.

The 5K Run will be at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Edman Chapel at the College, 101 College Ave. in Wheaton. The entry fee is $10 and includes a Homecoming T-shirt.

After the race, there will be a balloon release in Harris' honor.
