Chicago teachers to vote on contract

CHICAGO — Members of the Chicago Teachers Union are scheduled to vote on the proposed contract reached after a seven-day strike last month.

The strike left more than 350,000 students out of class across Chicago. The teachers walked out Sept. 10 after months of tense contract talks in their first strike in 25 years.

The union represents 30,000 teachers and support personnel in the nation's third largest school district.
