CL man injured in Missouri car accident

A Crystal Lake man is in serious, but stable condition after a four-vehicle accident Monday outside St. Louis, Mo., according to authorities.

Jeffrey Conway, 27, of Florissant, Mo., was traveling west on Salt River Road in a white 2004 Monte Carlo around 6 a.m. when he crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic, according to the St. Peters Police Department. The Monte Carlo then struck three vehicles — a Chevrolet Trailblazer, a GMC Sonoma, and a Kia Soul.

Conway's vehicle first hit the Trailblazer, then the Sonoma, causing it to roll over, police said. The vehicle then collided head-on with the Soul, which was being driven by Crystal Lake resident Dan Ayers.

Conway died as a result of the accident, according to a news release.

The drivers of the Sonoma and Trailblazer suffered minor injuries, police said. Ayers was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis in serious, but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
