Fire Department plans open house

CRYSTAL LAKE – The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department will host its annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Municipal Complex, 100 W. Woodstock St.

The public is invited to attend. There will be interactive and educational activities for the entire family.

Some activities include: displays of fire engines, ambulances, antique fire vehicles and other equipment that responds to emergencies; tours of the fire station; the department's Safety House to practice exiting a house fire, and child hose drills; and information from Nicor and Metra.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Dive Team will also display their underwater communication system and equipment to show how to help a drowning person. The police department also will be conducting car seat inspections. Flight For Life, operations of the new platform truck, fire extinguisher demonstrations, and a live burn also are scheduled.

Parking is available at the Crystal Lake Municipal Complex  at 100 W. Woodstock St.; west of the municipal complex at 110 W. Woodstock St.; and the parking lot across the street from 110 W. Woodstock.
