Award-winning film to be shown at MCC

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College will present an award-winning documentary about cancer survivors, “Awaken the Dragon,” in partnership with Centegra Health System.

The showing will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Luecht Conference Center at MCC, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

Produced and directed by Charleston, S.C., filmmaker Liz Oakley, “Awaken the Dragon” features the Charleston Dragon Boat team, a group of cancer survivors who beat all odds and embraced the courage and ferocity of an immortal creature. The team has traveled the world to compete and in September won a gold medal in the Cancer Survivor Division at the Portland Dragon Boat Festival in Oregon.
