Affordable senior housing to break ground

CRYSTAL LAKE – Lutheran Social Services of Illinois will have a groundbreaking at 2 p.m. on Oct. 11 for Gable Point Senior Housing, 401 Commonwealth Drive, Crystal Lake.

Located on three acres, Gable Point Senior Housing will offer 59 one-bedroom apartments for low-income seniors aged 62 years and older. The building will feature Victorian-style architecture, with turrets and gables. Many resident apartments will have unique features, such as rounded living rooms with many windows or special nook areas.

The apartments feature a full kitchen and an open layout, as well as amenities, including a community room for social programs and recreation, 24-hour on-call maintenance and a social service coordinator.
