Oct. 10 trial date set for Ill. lawmaker's trial
WAUKEGAN – An Illinois lawmaker facing criminal damage and trespassing charges is scheduled to go on trial next week.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Don Tyer on Wednesday said an Oct. 10 trial date is set for state Sen. Suzi Schmidt.
The News Sun reported the charges against Schmidt stem from an alleged dispute with her neighbors in unincorporated Lake Villa. The Republican is accused of throwing boat oars from her neighbor's yard into a nearby marsh and of punching a hole in a bag of feed outside the neighbor's home.
