19 people charged in Aurora gun, drug case

CHICAGO — Prosecutors have charged 19 people with selling cocaine, heroin and firearms in the Aurora area.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement that nine Aurora residents face federal charges. Ten more people have been charged in Kane County Circuit Court.

The investigation started in the spring of 2011.

Prosecutors say several of the men arrested tried to sell drugs and guns to an alleged member of an Aurora gang who was working as a police informant.

Authorities seized five weapons and various amounts of heroin and crack and powder cocaine.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
