Free prostate cancer screening in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK – The McHenry County Health Department will offer free prostate cancer screenings from 7:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at its Woodstock office, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Building A.

Through a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the PSA blood test is being offered at no cost to McHenry County men ages 50 and older.

Space is limited. To register, call 815-334-4536.

The health department encourages men to take responsibility for safeguarding their health through regular checkups and screenings.

The PSA is one tool in assessing men’s overall health. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men and the second-leading cancer cause of death, after lung cancer.

It is estimated one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

For information about prostate health, visit www.cdc.gov/features/prostatecancer or call the health department at 815-334-4510.
