LITH plans basketball league, disc golf tourney

LAKE IN THE HILLS – The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department offers upcoming ways for children and adults to be active.

Basketball leagues: Registration is open for a basketball league for children in third through sixth grade.

Everybody plays in this developmental recreation league. Players will develop basic individual basketball skills and team concepts while playing in a fun low-pressure environment.

The registration deadline for the fifth- and sixth-grade league is Friday. For the third-and fourth-grade league, the deadline is Oct. 31.

Team shirts, gym time, game officials and an end-of-the-season award are included in the registration fee.

Disc Golf Tournament: This inaugural tournament, scheduled for Saturday, will be a way to break in the new disc golf course in Linda K. Fischer Park.

This one-day tournament will be played in twosomes, and will be “best shot.” There are two divisions in this event, which is not sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association.

The tournament will play three rounds of nine holes.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top two team finishers in the amateur division. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top two finishers in the pro division.

Fees are per team.

Registration and check-in starts at 8 a.m., a players meeting will be at 8:45 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 9 a.m.
