MCYO youth inspire

To the Editor:

The McHenry County Youth Orchestra continues to inspire our community with both its music and its character.

The recent donation of $3,018 made at the “Take a Stand for Turning Point” by MCYO President Kurt Kuehnart was made at the choice the students of MCYO. At a time of significant financial stress for the orchestra, the students chose to help others rather than themselves. Last Christmas this included a fundraiser for the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.

Under the leadership of Cathy Ames (executive director) and Maestro Gene Power, who bicycled from Champaign to Crystal Lake last spring, this orchestra is an extraordinary example of how the youth of our community inspire all of us.

If the students of the MCYO inspire you as much as they have inspired the MCYO Board of Trustees, please contact the MCYO to see how you can help support this extraordinary youth orchestra (mcmusic.org).
