Evergreen Park teachers strike continues
EVERGREEN PARK – Negotiations to resolve a teachers’ strike in Evergreen Park are expected to continue.
Talks over the weekend didn’t produce an agreement in the strike, which has left about 1,800 students out of class for a week. District 124 includes four elementary schools and one junior high school.
About 150 teachers and 60 support staff walked off the job after negotiators couldn’t reach agreement on pay and benefits.
After more than five hours of talks Sunday, Superintendent Robert Machak said he’d seen little progress.
