Chili’s to donate profits to Colo. shooting fund
The Chili’s restaurants in Illinois are raising money to donate to the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance to benefit those affected by the movie theater shooting in July in Aurora, Colo.
Through Nov. 4, people can bring in a voucher to have 10 percent of their purchase go to the fund. Vouchers can be obtained from http://on.fb.me/Ve77UM. People also can email AuroraShootingVictimsevent@gmail.com.
One of the victims in the shooting was Crystal Lake native John Larimer, who died protecting his girlfriend, Juleah Vojtsek of Algonquin.
Also on Nov. 4, there will be a fundraiser at the Chili’s in Algonquin where Larimer used to work. There will be a raffle of items donated by Massage Envy Spa, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Blackhawks, among others.
Raffle prizes include two season tickets for the 2012-13 Chicago Blackhawks (pending a resolution to the NHL lockout), four season tickets for the 2013 Chicago White Sox, an Ernie Banks signed baseball, signed memorabilia from former Chicago Bears Ed O’Bradovich and Steve McMichael and current Bears receiver Earl Bennett, a Lou Malnati’s gift card and two gift cards from Massage Envy Spa.
Larimer was one of 12 people killed in a shooting in the movie theater during a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
