MCC to begin Second Sunday Concert Series

CRYSTAL LAKE – The Second Sunday Concert Series at McHenry County College opens its 2012-13 season at 3 p.m. Sunday, featuring the Chicago Brass Band Players, an elite ensemble from the Chicago Brass Band.

The Chicago Brass Band Players is a 10-member ensemble founded in 2002 from the 30-piece Chicago Brass Band.

The group performs a repertoire from the Renaissance through the 20th century.

The performance will feature sounds of the cornet, flugelhorn, tenor horn, baritone horn, trombone, euphonium, bass and percussion.

The concert in the Luecht Conference Center at the college, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake, is free and open to the public.

The following Second Sunday and other MCC concerts are free and at 3 p.m. at the college unless otherwise noted: Oct. 28, Halloween Concert at Cary-Grove High School gym, 2208 Three Oaks Road, featuring the MCC Concert Band and the Crystal Lake Community Band; Nov. 11, Brian Torosian, classical guitarist; Nov. 18, MCC Concert Band and Chorus Fall Concert; Nov. 28 at 7 p.m., MCC Jazz Concert; Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., MCC Student Recital; Dec. 9 at 4 p.m., Handel’s “Messiah” at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake, featuring the MCC Choir, Voices in Harmony and an orchestral accompaniment.
