CL structure fire displaces 5 residents

CRYSTAL LAKE – A basement fire late Tuesday night left five residents displaced due to extensive smoke damage throughout the home, according to the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.

Firefighters were called to a three-unit residence in the first block of South Williams Street at around 11:30 p.m. for a report of a structure fire, according to a news release. Crews arrived to find all occupants off the home evacuated.

The fire was later contained to a laundry room in the basement. Damage is estimated at about $10,000.
