WOODSTOCK – Most people do not know that before she became the “Mistress of American Manners,” Emily Post had to deal with an unhappy marriage and overcome the scandal of divorce.

Biographer Laura Claridge comes to the Woodstock Opera House Oct. 18 to reveal details about events that governed Post’s life and how she converted social disgrace into triumph.

The presentation begins at 10 a.m.

Tickets cost $24 and may be purchased through the box office at 815-338-5300.

The program is part of the Creative Living Series sponsored by the Woodstock Fine Arts Association, which is in its 49th season.

Attendees are invited for coffee and conversation beginning at 9 a.m. at the Stage Left Café next to the Opera House.
