‘Thoroughly Modern 
Millie, Jr.’ at Heineman

HUNTLEY – Drama Club members from Heineman Middle School will celebrate the 2012-13 school year with a performance of “Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr.”

The show premieres Friday and Saturday in the Performing Arts Center at Huntley High School, 13719 Harmony Road, Huntley.

Set in New York during the Roaring ’20s, “Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr.” tells the story of Millie Dillmount, a small-town girl from Kansas who moves to New York City and quickly discovers she doesn’t fit in with the “modern” crowd.

Millie is a go-getter who is ambitious and has a lot of spunk and tenacity to stand up to whoever gets in the way of her two goals – to find a job and to marry a rich husband.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr.” features several musical numbers with blues, jazz and upbeat ragtime. The “Jr.” version is shorter but still contains Broadway favorites, including “Forget About the Boy” and “Gimme Gimme.”

Tickets cost $5 and can be bought at the door. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
